They spent their childhood together
went to first school together, played jointly.
One day coming from the village school
got a mango that had fallen from the tree.
Each of them ate that mango turn by turn
and cleaned flesh of it completely.
Manis got an idea, ‘let us sow this seed,
who grows faster mango or us, let’s see’.
Out of fun, they put the seed in the soil.
It was the seed of love, they didn’t know.
As they grew younger, along with them
the mango plant also occurred to grow.
They nourished, watered and cared it;
they were concerned for its good.
In few years the tree grew taller than them
and started producing fruits.
They used to see the tree regularly
and the tree kept them together.
What else would be the love
as strong as the trunk, love grew stronger.
But something weird had to happen.
In religions and caste, divided was, the society.
Girls and boys were not permitted
to get inter-religion or inter-caste, married.
The boy and girl belonged to separate castes
their love story was known to others, gradually
and also to their parents and girl’s brother
which was not liked by the girl’s family.
Father of the girl belonged to upper caste
and had a good reputation in the society.
The family could not tolerate at all that:
the girl gets married outside own community.
Social logic were discussed in the family
and the girl was desisted to proceed further.
But she was determined, she loved only Manis
the mango tree was the spectator.
Girl’s elder brother didn’t accept, betrayingly,
one night took Manis away from the village.
Took place an ‘honor killing’, near that tree
he shot at Manis, all of his bullets.
They never thought the seed they had sown
would turn into the seed of hatred.
Manis fell down, his blood flooded in the soil.
He sacrificed his life but the story not ended.
Police investigation got the clue of crime
