Merry Christmas

Has arrived, after one year wait.
I will eat the creamy cakes.
I will eat sweet chocolates
and my house I will decorate.
I will light up Christmas lights.
Christmas night, Santa will arrive.
He will give us amazing gifts;
when we sleep, in the dreams.
But I’m not going to sleep tonight.
Till he comes, I will kill time.
I will wear newly bought dress,
wish my friends ‘Merry Christmas’

Christmas holiday, haiku

Christmas vacation
the world goes on holiday
Santa on duty

Fake smile

Fake smile is like the flash of camera
that shows the image like the slide show.
Tough to judge, hidden behind the smile,
are how much pain, tears or the sorrow.

Fake smile is type of a made flower
which looks glowed but has no fragrance.
Pretending everything is beautiful,
fake smile on the face is like a portrait.

Deceptive smiley face is like a burglar
tries to steal your heart for own purpose.
A smile can say thousand of things
and fake smile can hide many problems.

Dear Santa, limerick

On the Christmas, when I saw the snow fall.
You’re getting ready to come, I thought.
You throw down in the air,
while saving, suds and hair.

I am waiting you fervently, Dear Santa!

Reaching to God

Remained busy in creating the amenities,
Non of them helped to reach the eternity.
Felt then, have to go on feet,
None will join to form a fleet.
Lost time and energy; way made lengthy

Talking to God

We reached bit closer, hoping to talk
by satellite communication to the God.
But signal is returned back,
reaching unto God it lacks.
Better is, only, if we listen His words.

Science and God

Fitted high pixel camera, with hope
I place everyday the big telescope,
So that I could capture
at least one of his picture;

God’s image, camera could not rope.

Smile

Smiled the naughty beautiful girl,
to the heart, her sweet smile stuck.
When she smiled peeping in heart
her prickly smile got pierced.

When I expressed my pain
she threw the dodgy smile then.
When the envying friend saw
he had choppy smile to throw.

I answered him too with a smile
with my complicated smile.
Hiding the pain inside I had
showing him as I was relaxed.

Sales girl tried to influence
with fake smile on her face.
I knew if not be careful, she may
persuade to loose my pocket.

The child gave a pleasant smile
I forgot everything for a while.
Just lifted and I kissed his cheek,
his mom gave the simple grin.

When farmer saw his crops flourishing
he had firm smile on his tight lips.
When he took sturdy grains to his home
he got the smile of contentment.

The water, Ghazal

Fishes and frogs may need more;
to drink I want just a glass of water.
My eyes and heart are cooled
watching, from clouds the raining water.
Soul gets delighted when sit at shore
and see soaring waves of water.
But whenever rise, gets us terrified,
the sea levels of the fierce water.
The creatures cry when see it dried,
the ponds and the lakes of water.
I find no pond or pool to amass it ,

Life is also flowing like the water.
I tried to write but failed for all time,
the story of water on the water.

Petrol of fitness, limerick

Cars are parked near the jogging park,
gentlemen have come for fitness walk.
To pedal the stationary cycles,
people come on motorcycles.
Maybe petrol burnt leads to weight loss.

What to do, limerick

She had the least for her life to carry
poor girl of eighteen, decided to marry -
an old rich man of eighty years,
he greeted the bride with eager.
What to do then, the old man was scary

For his prey, frog threw two feet long
A mouse pup got stuck on his tongue
Frog found tough to swallow it
On his tongue, pup then peed
Along with pup, frog jumped in pond.

Frog's gift, limerick

Celebrated his birthday; the frog.
Gifted him an umbrella, the tortoise.
Found no use in the pool
He also din’t go to school
Used it, when came out for sunbath.

I won't burn my heart

What a kind of story it is,
where there is no rest area?
Din’t know where it began,
I just flowed in the euphoria.

What kind of story …

I would find myself, my goal
you be with me or be not.
I am not going to kill myself.
Even if you have gone apart,

What kind of story …

You’re now beloved of someone
that will not restrict me.
I would find another pearl
in this vast ocean of love.

What kind of story …

I would yet remember you
but not burn my heart grey.
I would seize the lights of lamp
and let the smoke fly away.

What a  kind of story…

I made paper boats

Playing in the water after the rains
for me, was the most enjoyable event.
Jumping in the water was a great fun
as swam in ponds only in rainy season.

No swimming pool was in the vicinity
Only in rains could get water, plenty.
I used to make paper boats, in childhood
and placed to sail in the water pools.

Sometimes I thought, seeing the boat bare,
it may be more fun, if there’s a passenger.
At times used to pick a big ant and put on board.
Don’t know how many, but were left to sail alone;

I considered that the ant was enjoying the voyage
like we are passionate of surfing in the lake.
Didn’t know, in the vast ocean what was his fate
how many days would he long to find the bank.

Perhaps, he must have felt like Noah, staying in the ark
and waiting the waters of flood to be parched.

Poetry vs painting

Poetry and painting are two sisters
staying in different countries;
Where different language is spoken
and have the fix boundaries.

Poetry is the elder sister because
it can portray image of all pictures;
Painting has the limited muscles
to draw the image of all the verse.

Both are mode of creative expressions
giving aesthetic representation.
Both use the muse to amuse and induce-
at times conceptual interpretation.

Painting pleases and compels to think
in the visual image what we see.
Where as literary work of the poetry
gives ideas and  persuades to feel.

Painting can be aesthetic large image
and the poetry an emotive imagery.
Poetry can draw image of even soul
but painting has restricted periphery.

Ambiguity in painting is perception
and ambiguity in poetry is interpretation.
If both the sisters shake hands together
they can strengthen the connotation.

We remember visual images easier
and the paintings can rise very high,
but we feel the poetic words deeper
and poems can go beyond the skies.

Sarojini Naidu, the nightingale of India

She had superb brilliance,
She had amazing intelligence.
She got the poetic talent
from parents in heritance.

In her teenage, she could not
get her algebra in line
but wrote ‘The lady of the lake’
poem of thirteen hundred lines.

Of the nineteenth century
and in the last decade,
to the ‘King’s College of London’
she was got admitted.

She got her beloved in England
and to Dr. Naidu gave her heart.
Wanted his company forever;
into marriage tie, opted to convert.

Her love wasn’t confined to one,
she loved her people too.
After studies, returned to motherland
not fearing to bear the woes.

On return to India, Sarojini Naidu
joined the active politics.
She evoked the Indian people
with her words and ethics.

During ‘Quit India’ movement
she stayed in jail for two years.
Courage, confidence, dedication
were foundation of her character.

With her incredible words
she rejuvenated freedom fighters.
The independence of India
became heart and soul of her work.

Many books of magical poetry
got published, written by her.
Her work was admired largely by
poets like Rabindranath Tagore

In the world of the poetry
her amazing words did marvels.
Those could be sung sweet,
got recognition as ‘nightingale’.

Registered in the Indian history,
a great poet and freedom fighter;
And after independence of India
she became first woman Governor,

In the year nineteen forty nine
at her seventy, when she fell ill.
Said: ‘I hope not the eternal sleep’
as the physician gave sleeping pill.

Ramleela

Play is staged over ten successive nights,
during the Dussehara in the autumn season;
to show the life and values of Lord Rama
and defeat and killing of demon King Ravan.

Ram-Leela is the dramatic folk re-enactment,
of the life of Lord Rama, staged annually.
Which is based on the Indian epic Ramayana,
that contains the Lord Rama’s great story.

On each day, separate story of Lord is played:
his childhood, going to Gurukul for education,
breaking of Lord Shiva’s bow, Sita svamvar,
protection of saints in Yagna, from the demons,

Fulfilment of Kaikey’s wishes to give exile to Ram
and the kingdom of Ayodhya to Bharat, her son,
Accompanied with brother Lakshman and wife Sita
journey to forest, kidnapping of Sita by Ravan,

Meeting Hanuman and discovering Sita by him,
forming army of Vanar, destroying the demons,
attack on Lanka and retreating Ravan’s soldiers,
killing of the brothers and sons of King Ravana.

On final day of vijaydashmi, a possession is taken
when final battle takes place and Ravan is killed.
Ram’s wife Sita is released and reunited; and
effigies of Ravan with his son and brother are burnt.

Ram Leela or story of Lord Rama injects ethics to us.
Teaches, to live according to dharma and principles;
gentleness, kindness, righteousness and integrity,
virtues of life, discipline and respect to the people.

Winter song, triolet

Season has come for Santa’s arriving,
People exchange love and greetings.
In a great season life is thriving,
Season has come for Santa’s arriving.
Bells are ringing, the sleigh is sliding,
Winter and joy do mutual meetings.
Season has come for Santa’s arriving,
People exchange love and greetings.

Bells are ringing, the sleigh is sliding,
Children will get their Christmas gifts.
In the whole of valley snow is shining,
Bells are ringing, the sleigh is sliding.
Snowy gardens, snowy surrounding.
Schools are closed, enjoying the kids.
Bells are ringing, the sleigh is sliding,
Children will get their Christmas gifts.

The valley shows snowy-glowy face;
Woods are enveloped in silver flakes
Heaven rains blessings in winter's grace.

The valley shows snowy, glowy face;
Birds disappeared, trees did misplace.
Lakes and rivers eat cream of cakes.
The valley shows snowy-glowy face;

Woods are enveloped in silver flakes

Snowy gardens, snowy is surrounding.
Snow on roof top, snow in the streets,
In a wonderful season life is thriving,
Snowy gardens, snowy is surrounding.
Falls are sleeping, breeze goes chiming.

Sun traces vent, in the sky it tweets.
Snowy gardens, snowy is surrounding

Snow on roof top, snow in the streets,

Suffering cold flue

suffering cold flue
loses control over nose
incessant sneezing

incessant sneezing
spatters bacteria on friends
has no handkerchief

Mistletoes' smiles

Wanted to remove mistletoe
the apple orchard owner,
loaded on the apple trees
sucking their food and water.

I picked and sold some clusters,
bought Christmas gift for my sister.

Cricket king

Every Indian considers
himself conceited;
And who is blessed to have
Tendulkar in his own age;

And who watched
this Centurion of centuries
sending the balls
out of the boundaries;

And whoever has felt, his heroic cricket;
And no one can forget, this king of cricket

Nazar Battu

I was walking in the street
with grandma holding her finger.
Caution! caution! she shouted
and pulled me towards her.

Look ahead! that’s lemon and chilli,
it’s thrown out an evil eyes charm.
Don’t step over it or invite for you
bad influences in time to come.

Nazar Battu or the evil eye charm
is used to ward off the evil spirits.
Dangled at entrance of home or shop,
changed and thrown, every week.

Some chilli and a lemon are hanged
tied together with a string;
to protect from the evil spirits and
prosperity and fortunes, to bring.

It is also believed Alakshmi, who brings
poverty, misery and the ill fate;
likes sour, pungent and hot things
takes food and goes, from door itself.

Taking the advantage of darkness
sometimes, after the shops are shut;
fearless slum boys pick from the doors

and get theses vegetable free of cost.

Good morning, Suprabhat

It’s the morning which comes and embraces us;
unbiased of its gorgeousness and tranquility.
But for our routine occupation and selfish needs,
we discard it and abandon the opportunity.

Good morning

एक सुबहः ही है जो सुंदर होकर भी
अपने आप आती है और गले लग जाती है
एक हम हैं बदनसीब, उससे भी गला छुड़ाकर
काम के चक्कर में चक्कर काटते हैं

सुप्रभात

Man made heart

I would have made the heart like
a six valve, six stroke engine.
It will have six chambers too
for the efficient blood siphon.

There would be least chance
for the cardiac arrests.
Can’t puncture the whole heart
until fired on six bullets.

Two big atria, two ventricles
and two reserve chambers;
to have the ability of bearing
all sorts of anxiety disorders.

Enhanced ability would save
the heart from a heartbreak;
and just for the love sake

no one would bear heartache.

Creation 8

8

Then God remembered
Noah and all the living things
That was with him in the ark

God passed over earth
the wind and water assuaged,
fountains of heaven stopped

Rain from heaven stopped
After hundred fifty days
Water returned and abated

In seventh month, on
seventeenth day ark rested
on mountains of Ararat

Gradually decreased
the water and mountain’s top
seen on first day of tenth month

Forty days were passed
Noah opened window of ark
and he sent forth a raven

Sent a dove to see -
and went to and forth until
the water was dried from earth

The dove did not find
a place for rest of her foot
returned unto him in ark

After seven days
he sent the dove out again
who came back by evening

Dove came back plucked with
an olive leaf in her mouth
Noah knew, waters were abated

After seven days
sent again but not returned
this time the dove onto him

Water were dried in
six hundred first year’s first month
Noah removed ark's covering

God spoke unto Noah
go forth of the ark with your
wife, sons and also son’s wives

And bring forth with you
all living things, fowls, cattle
and creeping things lived with you

So that they may breed
abundantly on the earth
and multiply on the earth

Noah built an alter
unto the lord and offered
burnt offerings, clean beast, fowl

Lord smelt sweet savour
said in his heart I will not
now curse the ground any more

Neither will I again
smite living things, any more
for man’s sake or youth evil

While the earth remain
seed time, harvest, heat and cold
seasons, day, night shall not cease

Deepawali

We celebrate Deepawali festival every year,
in the month of October or  November;
when summer and rainy season is went off
and has set in the pleasant autumn weather.

Celebrating this great festival of deepawali,
we worship Goddess Lakshmi, to confer:
wealth, riches, splendid, happiness, loveliness
grace, charm, peace, prosperity and pleasure.

We decorate our dwells and work-premises,
with colors and light to welcome the Goddess.
Mother Lakshmi may come and fill our home,
with joy, fragrance, freshness and sweetness.

People make the colorful fabulous Rangoli
at their door steps as the welcome symbol.
Goddess Lakshmi! put your sacred step
and bring good luck to us, on this festival.

Goddess! I decked up my doorstep for you
and lighted up the path with lamps of love.
Do come and be impressed, with my devotion.
Shower in abundance, your goodwill upon us.

The way one lamp can light up many lamps
and destroy the darkness of the ambience;
Deepawali is the festival that enlightens us
way to spread love and do away murkiness.

Lord Rama devastated the evil from land;
to signify it, we light up row of clay lamps.
Let the luminous light of the truth prevail,
let the good triumph over the evil, always.

Goddess Lakshmi! put your sacred step
and brings good luck to us on this festival
may luck transform to a bright year
