Holiday Haiku

Christmas vacations -

to escape terrible snow  

going Australia 

Diwali holiday

whole family is busy

in cleaning the house 

Tanay and Tanishk 

would enjoy variety of sweets

big no to crackers

children are eager

to open received hampers   

tasty Diwali gifts  

family members 

pray to the Goddess Laxmi 

rain wealth upon us   

ah! school is closed

would take care of the ghost

this Halloween 

a big pumpkin

John brought on Halloween

scaring neighbors   

The little sparrow

 

Sometimes in the court yard 

and sometimes at the dome;

the little sparrows are -  

the ornaments of my home.

As fall down on the earth, 

the morning sun rays.

to awake me in time,

they come chirping all the way.

Comes gliding to my yard,   

hops here and there, the fowl. 

chirps out melodies and pops,

like it 'rocks and rolls'. 

Annoyed for many days, 

if she is out of my sight.  

I feel very sad, and  

endure the great plight.

The little fowl makes  

my break of the day pleasant. 

Lovely and friendly, she is;

and makes my yard elegant. 

I feel very pity indeed, 

on the life of big city people.

Who miss the cute sparrows; 

pops and hops of the littles.
