His library

You have trillions of books in your library.
It's impossible to read, the endless glossary.
I am a typical book of mere few pages,
can't understand, the meaning it does carry.
Impossible to read even a single whole book,
by anyone, those shelved in Your library.
You didn't attend any course or the training;
How do You manage as librarian, honorary?
Connotation of the contents are such ambiguous,
that can not be described in any dictionary.
You remove the old and obsolete books,
maintain your library fit and contemporary.
I do fail to comprehend the theories of any,
each book shelved here has its own mystery.

Moon bore curse

Moon was sinking in the ocean.
Lord Shiva raised to keep on head.
So that in growing order it glistens.
Moon was sinking in the ocean.
Rescued to shine for generations,
Moon bore curse of Daksha to fade.
Moon was sinking in the ocean.
Lord Shiva raised to keep on head.

Suffered from curse moon prayed soon,
Lord Shiva appeared then before him.
Lord offered to grant him a boon.
Suffered from curse moon prayed soon.
Pleased with prayers Lord blessed moon,
Month's half you'd wax, other half dim.
Suffered from curse moon prayed soon,
Lord Shiva appeared then before him.

Bread and breath

Crackers and the fire work material is sold;
as bread and butter of many, this business holds.

Now it's not just amusement of the children,
but show-off of the money and the competition.

On the occasion of Diwali, pollution goes high;
in many cities of India, more than twenty times.

On footpaths too, same question of bread rise;
hawkers earn lively-hood, walkers deprived.

Mix in the air, apart from industrial smokes,
dust flown out of building construction works.

Rash and zigzag driving, is very often seen,
hurried for work, in most cities same like scene.

They fly dust in the air, everyone else breath;
dangerous to the life and the people's health.

I missed you

Every time listened the bang sound,
I thought you are knocking the door.
On opening I found, it was the wind;
came to whisper, from the sea shore.

Tired of it, I decided not to open, next;
soon after heard some one knocking.
I rushed behind seeing through window;
you turned back and were walking.

Tree of knowledge limerick

God planted trees in the garden of Eden.
From eating fruit, Adam was forbidden,
Of the tree of knowledge,
else you can't go to college.
On your head, the stupidity will glisten.

Navratri Nine kanjaka

The little kanjaka

Chirping like few divine pretty birds,
entered my house nine little girls;
dressed in cute colourful costumes,
on Durga Ashtami they're specials.

All between three and seven years,
having their soul pure and clear.
I tried to make them sit in a row
Of them Jaya said, 'won't sit here'

Why you? angel ! when asked,
'Lata spoke to me bad words once.
She is sitting here, next to me,
to repeat her, can't give a chance.'

While getting up, her frock stuck,
with Chandani, who sat to her side.
Thought it mischief, she hit her
and received back the same twice.

They were served halwa, puri, chana.
Juhi told, 'I would eat only banana.
Have already eaten halwa and puri
and I never like this chana.'

Ketaki refused to eat anything
the reason she told, was on fast.
I explained, you're invited for feast,
the fast was over, the day last.

Kumud had brought her own plate.
'Give my every thing here', she said.
My little brother didn't come with me
to share with him, I would take.

'Ate twice, no space in tummy.
Give just my gift', Kamala urged;
Forcing to eat more would trouble,
you know, in turn I would curse.

Bela shattered her plate on the floor
we cleaned and offered another.
She was going to clean her chunni,
we convinced to do after puja was over.

Suddenly, Champa started sobbing.
Worried we asked, what happened?
'Komal is sleeping on my shoulder,
with her kumkum my choli is stained.'

We prayed all of them very humbly
please eat whatever you please.
You are our Devi, dear little angels!
take to home the things, you leave.

The moment was rosy and full of joy,
looked as heaven has come down.
We were playing with the little angels,
and deities came to bless our home.

Life is not just breath

life is not just breath
but working of the mind and
all of the senses

who know their duties
but not able to perform
they are in sleep form

while one is sleeping
that is cavity in life
portion not alive

we know death is sure
desires and passion, life's lure
an escape like death

live with fervour
don't let the life be hollow

Taj Mahal

A miracle of white marbles, the Taj Mahal.
A wonder of the universe, the Taj Mahal.
Whenever the moon glimpses in the sky
it greatly envies beauty of the Taj Mahal.
I yet ponder, is it architect, bright marbles
or mark of the love, that makes Taj Mahal.
It was a structure of white marble stones,
if there was no love story to make Taj Mahal.
The biggest book in the whole of universe,
written so far on the love, is the Taj Mahal.
I am amazed who should be most admired,
the emperor or men who built the Taj Mahal.
I too have a Mumtaj in deep of my heart
but whom shall I order to make a Taj Mahal?
I don't have money to buy precious marbles,
but would build with words of love, a Taj Mahal.

I met Joe

Joanfrog23 hotmail

At a juncture of the journey of my life
I met a person named Joe Camellery
I inked the brief on a piece of paper,
what I learned about his simple story.

Flames of second world-war was ablaze,
an angel was struggling to step on the land.
In nineteen forty four, on St. Joseph's day
John and Hilda were blessed as parents.

The happy couple named him, baby Joe.
The new born was very cute adorable boy.
With time, the naughty chap grew young
who filled in their life, a wonderful joy.

In his life for Joe, it was not any late,
A pretty girl Joan, came to grace his fate.
Expert Joan taught him, ballroom dance;
later she would become his life mate.

Joe and Joan loved each other so much,
they put their hearts on the love's spree.
Felt unendurable to live without the other,
they got married in nineteen sixty three.

Joan gave ever, blissful company to him,
and for her love, won a proud husband.
Joe always loved all his social relations,
and all the time, been friend of the friends.

With grace of God, happy Joe and Joan
got blessed to have their personable son.
With cute grand and great grand children,
their pretty family tree was further grown.

Joe is superannuated from his official job,
but real job of his life, would now start.
His great love and passion to the nature,
henceforth, in full swing would embark.

Joe loved to live simple and joyful life,
he always been active, healthy and fit.
He assumed the life as 'the glory of god'
kept in his heart, the name of Jesus lit.

He had to maintain his lovely big house,
that was shared by all of his pretty birds.
He opted to take care, in his house lawn,
of the variety of green plants and herbs.

He has stepped into seventies of his life,
with cheerful heart and in good health.
Backyard of his house is a bird sanctuary,
and numerous of plants made his wealth.

He leaves his bed, before the sun rises,
with all of his chirping birds, he tweets.
Outside birds come too, flying in his yard.
He welcomes with joy and nicely feeds.

Joe loves to watch the fluffing feathers,
and enjoys listening bird's sweet songs.
It makes him distressful and very sad,
if with any birdie, anything goes wrong.

He is dedicated for an outstanding care
to all of his birds and the plants, darling.
He also touches all of his plants daily,
and wishes the neighbours 'good morning'.

The great barrier reef

At the great barrier reef,
the awesome nature is camped.
Has put the beauty, on its duty;
to the land, heaven is clamped.

As many as on the fishes there,
you can't find the colors;
on the rainbows and butterflies
or in the gardens of  flowers.

Fishes of countless species
manta rays, whales and turtles,

birds on shores and gorgeous islands,
dissolve the hearts; sea animals.

Clean water untouched by human,
look across like a clear glass;
everything unto the bottom
there, mere nature is the boss.

The largest on the globe,
coral reef edged by golden sand.
Everyone is amazed to see,
the nature's wonder on the land.

A reef system, abounds in nature
of beauty, rich and rare.
The great barrier reef lets sing
advance Australia fair.

Vegetable day

vegetable day

It would be a wonderful day, if observed;
the 'vegetable day' in the whole of world.
A day, when served on your dining tables,
to eat fruits and  dishes of only vegetables.
You enjoy lot of colors and flavour
with variety of dishes for your devour.
Fasting, the Indian ladies can live good,
unto thirty six hours, without the food.
Why everyone in the world can't pledge?
Would eat mere vegetables on vegetable days.
The vegetables too would be very happy;
In honour of own to give off their nappy.
Because celebrating vegetable day every year,
would give millions of animals, a great cheer.

Flying Kite on 15 August

Tied to strings colours fly in the sky
and joy in parks, streets and roof-tops.
Not bothering even for their lunch,
the children are on the  kite-flying job.

Sets of contests go on between two,
don't know each other who is who.
They just aim to cut the other's line
and make his kite off the blue.

Little ones enjoy looting those kites,
add to their team's stock with pride.
Later, Gaurav's kite is in Akram's hands
and else one's  kite,  Akram flies.

Fun, friendship, fervour are the kite's play
to celebrate the Indian Independence Day.

The Indian independence day's carnival,
full of fun, friendship and fervour.

Dana majhi poor Indian villager

Poor Dana Majhi
Kalahandi

His wife suffered from tuberculosis.
Government hospital was the only oasis;
Where the poor would have least facility.
Absence of doctors is also a reality.

He has no money for the treatment.
Has to depend upon the government.
Only few days she could survive.
He gets back dead body of his wife.

Used to sail the boats, his ancestors;
on which crossed the river, the commuters.
Poor Dana Majhi can't hire a vehicle.
He can't afford even to have a bicycle.

On the worst day of his life, he takes her;
to his village for funeral, on his shoulder.
He carries her load unto ten kilometres.
People on the way were mere spectators.

Of an Indian villager, this is a real story.
Not an ancient, but of twenty first century.
Leaders become soon, multimillionaire.
Whereas poor live homeless, life of dire.

the country gives life
for the country
he would die

in a country
each moment dies the poor guy
how again can die

Singing breeze

Goes on swirling, the singing breeze
cools the heart the singing breeze
wanders in the herbs and bushes
passes through trees, the singing breeze

Lakes oceans and rivers, in their sleep
awakes the emotions the singing breeze

They roam freely, as wish in the sky
sways the clouds, the singing breeze
plays with the flames of fire
flare and  diminish the singing breeze
passes through groves of bamboos
plays fine tune of flute the singing breeze
bloomed beautiful blossoms in the gardens
spread the aroma the singing breeze
sing awesome sweet sings the birds
bring to the ears the singing breeze
flag is fixed highest on the mast
unfurls and waves the singing breeze
whenever its mood is off
brings the storms the singing breeze

Search O google uncle, face book

O! Google uncle

Beautiful bride, of my pride, search O! Google uncle!
Fair as, the night can't hide, search O! Google uncle!

She must be a teen, but above seventeen
to become my queen, search O! Google uncle!

Who delights my eyes, my passion satisfies,
Even the mirror envies, search O! Google uncle!

Should have sugar sweet lips, be slim above hips
In her love I may dip, search O! Google uncle!

Should've silky golden hair, her colour should flair
Her figure would be rare, search O! Google uncle!

Her talk like angels, her walk like gazells,
Her eyes lotus petals, search O! Google uncle!

Her pretty pretty face, would have special grace
These are hints for the trace, search O! Google uncle!

Face book

A place, you don't see face
but have got the nice base;
You can easily hop and land
get your all friends of grace.

Here dump your mental garbage,
your ideas, you can salvage,
to enter someone's heart
you can make your passage.

You can have here pleasure,
you can hunt here treasure,
you can educate yourself,
have solutions for the leisure.

With your friends, you update,
many more, you can add,
If you have the internet
any moment you can chat.

Pop-ups come to peep in you
to tell you all, what is the new.
Forgotten things of your mind,
to recall and get the clue.

Beware of being cheated yet,
by deceitful and fake chats.
'Facebook' is amazing island,
need to be used with some tacts.

Moon haiku

are deprived
who made their contiguous bright
glimpse of the moon

seeing full face
the ocean tides mad
beauty of moon

to have a look
the stars come out soon
of splendid moon

sun succeeds
only once in a month
glimpse of full moon

in the nights
moon's broken mirror
ponds and lakes

peeks from the sky
to see where moonlit is spread
moon on the earth

swinging jasmine
in the bright moonlit
the dancing stars

in the cool breeze
lonely on the roof
she and the moon

cool breeze strokes
surface of the lake
shivering moon

moonlit warms
cools the couple's hearts
breeze on beach

breeze can fly
yet hopeless like me
can't touch moon

Booth capturing

He is a minister in one of the states in the country,
can't afford to loose the assembly election.
He has tasted the power of being in government;
by hook or by crook would secure his selection.

In the few constituencies of the country,
elections are held like war goes to take place.
Contestants gather money and muscle power
and deploy to manage the victory, anyway.

Voters're influenced by caste, money and power
and instigated to cast vote in influential's favour.
Friends and people around him would receive,
benefits derived out of his governmental power.

Hired goondas take charge of booth capturing
to ensure votes of subjugated people in his favour.
Of their life, assault, safety and modesty;
the voters are forced to cast vote, under fear.

Goonda elements would fill ballet box themselves,
disallowing sometimes, from voting, the real voters.
They manage the polling booth and police
having connection with top officials and ministers.

Contestant has money to flow, earned by corruption;
from doing any illegal act, he is not afraid.
Being in government, treats everything under his toe,
With the help of criminals, even can blood shed.

Other side of the hill

I'll fall other side of the hill, dancing,
would enjoy advantage of the slope.
From the peak, goal obviously glancing
I'll fall other side of the hill, dancing,
To the abode of God, am advancing
holding His tossed, the climbing rope.
I'll fall other side of the hill, dancing,
would enjoy advantage of the slope.

Simplicity

Simplicity

God has given things in simple way
we have been working to complicate.
I believe, we have to work more hard
to make the things simple yet.

Simple people have great thoughts.
Who live simple are closure to God.
Gandhi did believe in simple living.
Greatness of life, ever retrieving.

We like complex things but simple use
but complex things always confuse.
I like the life as simple as of a child.
Burden on life, in simplicity is light.

A flash of love

Outside of beauty parlour
I saw the glamour
Began swimming over

My eyes were stuck
That was just by luck
Seen such beauty never

She threw a smile
He fainted for a while
But she was clever

Soon, as he flipped
She had got slipped
And not turned ever

Outside the beauty parlour
I saw the glamour
Began swimming over

That's just by luck
My eyes were stuck
Seen such a beauty never

She threw a smile
I fainted for a while
But she was clever

Soon as I flipped
She had got slipped
And not turned ever

Wandered here and there
to see again anywhere
Hanged on in love's fever

Once again she smiled
As an air-hostess in a flight
That was the woe reliever

Listening the silence

Listening the silence

Silent pictures speak many words.
We hear clear, the silent caged birds.
High till sky, but doesn't listen the pain;
butcher of slaughter house, who slain.
Listens very loud, the doctor treating,
when the patient's heart stops beating.
The mother listens, what he seeks;
the things too, her baby not speaks.
Everyone speaks in the parliament,
speaker is the person, sits silent.
I haven't seen talking the love yet,
hear even today 'Romeo and Juliet'.

The social media

Through the pipe and the wire
flows water and electricity, to my house.
Ideas of the people flow to me wireless,
just on click of the mouse.

My friends and familiars are away,
many times not face to face.
Sitting any where in the world,
I can have their instant trace.

I have made here a virtual home,
and harboured people to create synergies.
I can reach to anyone, I like
without spending much, my energy.

I make full use of the social media
to find shopping, cinemas, restaurants;
and also for the group gossips
exchanging views, telling events.

I remain confined in my home,
no personal contact with familiars.
But celebrities and high profile people
take their breath in open air, here.

All the rubbish cooked in my mind;
to dump, I have got some place.
Fearing no physical assault, at any
can shoot arrows of words and thrash.

Senses

We all have the five senses
to see, hear, smell, touch and taste.
Yet need one more sense
to know depth, blend these or bifurcate.

Having all the five, why;
acts of someone called nonsense?
Perhaps, he lacks
the genuine use of the sixth sense.

Thing perceived is good or bad
and how to do the emotional balance,
and the desires may not over influence;
to control, we need the sixth sense.

The things can't be seen by naked eyes,
someone sees by super vision.
Many people say the sixth sense
to the power of that intuition.

In the modern age of technology,
replica of human senses designed.
Through these man-made sensors,
automated machine functions assigned.

dried tobacco

delicious bite
tag of war between

Spouse

Goal of life is only one, that is to live,
with comfort and happiness.
Goal of marriage is only one, to give
to the partner love and bliss.

Spouse should be person who loves,
and lives with the partner in unison.
Should give the best to the other
and stand with, in any odd situation.

She makes my mornings good,
being ever ready with a cup of tea.
She lives with me for my concerns,
I love her because she lives with me.

She delivers lot of love and respect
and keeps worried about my health.
She always takes care of my taste;
in needs, boosts the moral strength.

She's made me father of my children
and stood to fulfil my desires.
We long for longevity of the marital tie
with happiness, barring the ire.

She is my live mirror that commands
how should I dress, how do appear.
Exchanges ideas and provides schemes
to make path of the prosperity clear.

On every path, smooth or rough;
she has an vow to go together.
She always takes care of my comforts
I do bother her concerns, ever.

Pinches but saves from doing wrongs
though I detest such acts of my wife.
She scans and blocks wrong things,
by doing thorough audit of my life.

Goodbye

Tongue can say goodbye,
the heart never says.
Whenever you're apart,
in deep sadness it lays.

Comes or goes, the weather
Flower of love doesn't whither.
It's fragrance lively stays
Tongue can ....

Rain says goodbye to clouds.
streams say to the mounts.
To the sun, say it's rays
Tongue can ....

Sun says goodbye in evenings
Moon says in the mornings
But promise to return always.
Tongue can ...

Birds say goodbye to nests
In the evenings return for rest
To see you soon heart ever prays
Tongue can ....

Life's goal

You may have instincts of doing,
wrong things but need to control.
Everyone here is like a puppet
and has to play his assigned role.
Sin in the vessel of the life
stands there as a blind big hole.
If you want a thorough clear fare
you need to pay good work's toll.
Being you a good human being,
requires to clean up your soul.
To return as much clean as can be
to the creator, is life's final goal.

Principles of management

Kabir loved mankind

gives lucid message
Saint Kabir's philosophy
to whole society
it gives strength to poor and weak
preaches to strong, help the weak

like tall tree of date
Kabir didn't want to be big
with no help to weak
the date tree doesn't give shelter
and it's hard to reach it's fruits

any one in your life
never underestimate
even the weakest
straw always is pressed by feet
once pierce in eyes pains too much

don't trouble a weak
whose curse is so powerful
can spoil anything
breath of the dead leather bag
blacksmith uses melts the steel

Kabir prayed to God
that his community is fed
give that much of wealth
neither his community starves
nor visitors go hungry

offer to needy
whatever you can offer
wealth will not decrease
birds take away the water
rivers don't have depletion

good people take birth
for the welfare of others
they don't live for self
like trees never eat own fruits
rivers don't drink own water

satisfy your life
within the things you can earn
and have faith in God
don't envy or be greedy
seeing other's luxury

soil says to potter
you are crushing me like this
because me is soil
the day will come
when i will crush you

Bhookhe Ko Kuch DeejiyeYathashakti Jo HoyeTaa Upar Sheetal BachanLakho Aatma SoyeOffer to the needy whatever you can. Speak sweet honeyed words to all. This is how you will come to know the eternal spirit.

*************8

don't ignore a yet a straw, which is beneath the feet
flown if pierces the eyes pains a lot
We should never underestimate any one in our life because if we think that straw always pressed by our feet then you should also keep in mind that if once a straw fly in the air and goes in your eye then it pains too much.

don't tease a weak who can curse to spoil
breath of the dead leather burns the steel

read the books the world no one became learned
two syllables of love makes one learned

saint should be like
In the word we need those gentlemen who have quality like a grain selector which keep the grain and washed the trash in the air

“You have not thanked god in your good times, but in bad time you are remembering him, Kabir says, who will then listen to your cry ”Dukh Mein Simran Sab Kare, Sukh Mein Kare Na Koye Jo Sukh Mein Simran Kare, Tau Dukh Kahe Ko Hoye Translation While Suffering everyone Prays and Remembers Him, in joy no one does If one prays and remembers Him in happiness, why would sorrow come? Meaning The suffering you experience in the world is designed to wake you up. You wake up when you realize God. If you did that during your happy times, then you will not experience suffering.

Dukh mei sumiran sab kare, Sukh mei kare na koye.
Jo sukh mei sumiran kare, dukh kahe ko hoye
” Everyone remembers god in bad times, but no one in good times, If you remember him in good times, then why should bad times should come”
Bada hua toh kya hua jaise ped khajur,
Panthi ko chaya nahi, phal lage ati door

A principle refers to a fundamental truth. It establishes cause and effect relationship between two or more variables under given situation. They serve as a guide to thought & actions. Therefore, management principles are the statements of fundamental truth based on logic which provides guidelines for managerial decision making and actions. These principles are derived: -
  1. On the basis of observation and analysis i.e. practical experience of managers.
  2. By conducting experimental studies.
There are 14 Principles of Management described by Henri Fayol.
  1. Division of Labor

    1. Henri Fayol has stressed on the specialization of jobs.
    2. He recommended that work of all kinds must be divided & subdivided and allotted to various persons according to their expertise in a particular area.
    3. Subdivision of work makes it simpler and results in efficiency.
    4. It also helps the individual in acquiring speed, accuracy in his performance.
    5. Specialization leads to efficiency & economy in spheres of business.
  2. Party of Authority & Responsibility

    1. Authority & responsibility are co-existing.
    2. If authority is given to a person, he should also be made responsible.
    3. In a same way, if anyone is made responsible for any job, he should also have concerned authority.
    4. Authority refers to the right of superiors to get exactness from their sub-ordinates whereas responsibility means obligation for the performance of the job assigned.
    5. There should be a balance between the two i.e. they must go hand in hand.
    6. Authority without responsibility leads to irresponsible behavior whereas responsibility without authority makes the person ineffective.
  3. Principle of One Boss

    1. A sub-ordinate should receive orders and be accountable to one and only one boss at a time.
    2. In other words, a sub-ordinate should not receive instructions from more than one person because -
        -  It undermines authority
        -  Weakens discipline
        -  Divides loyalty
        -  Creates confusion
        -  Delays and chaos
        -  Escaping responsibilities
        -  Duplication of work
        -  Overlapping of efforts
    3. Therefore, dual sub-ordination should be avoided unless and until it is absolutely essential.
    4. Unity of command provides the enterprise a disciplined, stable & orderly existence.
    5. It creates harmonious relationship between superiors and sub-ordinates.
  4. Unity of Direction

    1. Fayol advocates one head one plan which means that there should be one plan for a group of activities having similar objectives.
    2. Related activities should be grouped together. There should be one plan of action for them and they should be under the charge of a particular manager.
    3. According to this principle, efforts of all the members of the organization should be directed towards common goal.
    4. Without unity of direction, unity of action cannot be achieved.
    5. In fact, unity of command is not possible without unity of direction.
BasisUnity of commandUnity of direction
MeaningIt implies that a sub-ordinate should receive orders & instructions from only one boss.It means one head, one plan for a group of activities having similar objectives.

ResultIt leads to better superior sub-ordinate relationship. It leads to smooth running of the enterprise.
Therefore it is obvious that they are different from each other but they are dependent on each other i.e. unity of direction is a pre-requisite for unity of command. But it does not automatically comes from the unity of direction.
  1. Equity

    1. Equity means combination of fairness, kindness & justice.
    2. The employees should be treated with kindness & equity if devotion is expected of them.

    5. They should not discriminate with respect to age, caste, sex, religion, relation etc.
    6. Equity is essential to create and maintain cordial relations between the managers and sub-ordinate.
    7. But equity does not mean total absence of harshness.
    8. Fayol was of opinion that, “at times force and harshness might become necessary for the sake of equity”.
  2. Order

    1. This principle is concerned with proper & systematic arrangement of things and people.
    2. Arrangement of things is called material order and placement of people is called social order.
    3. Material order- There should be safe, appropriate and specific place for every article and every place to be effectively used for specific activity and commodity.
    4. Social order- Selection and appointment of most suitable person on the suitable job. There should be a specific place for every one and everyone should have a specific place so that they can easily be contacted whenever need arises.
  3. Discipline

    1. According to Fayol, “Discipline means sincerity, obedience, respect of authority & observance of rules and regulations of the enterprise”.
    2. This principle applies that subordinate should respect their superiors and obey their order.
    3. It is an important requisite for smooth running of the enterprise.
    4. Discipline is not only required on path of subordinates but also on the part of management.
    5. Discipline can be enforced if -
        -  There are good superiors at all levels.

    4. Logical & appropriate wage rates and methods of their payment reduce tension & differences between workers & management creates harmonious relationship and pleasing atmosphere of work.
    5. Fayol also recommended provision of other benefits such as free education, medical & residential facilities to workers.
  6. Stability of Tenure

    1. Fayol emphasized that employees should not be moved frequently from one job position to another i.e. the period of service in a job should be fixed.
    2. Therefore employees should be appointed after keeping in view principles of recruitment & selection but once they are appointed their services should be served.
    3. According to Fayol. “Time is required for an employee to get used to a new work & succeed to doing it well but if he is removed before that he will not be able to render worthwhile services”.
    4. As a result, the time, effort and money spent on training the worker will go waste.
    5. Stability of job creates team spirit and a sense of belongingness among workers which ultimately increase the quality as well as quantity of work.
  7. Scalar Chain

    1. Fayol defines scalar chain as ’The chain of superiors ranging from the ultimate authority to the lowest”.
    2. Every orders, instructions, messages, requests, explanation etc. has to pass through Scalar chain.
    3. But, for the sake of convenience & urgency, this path can be cut shirt and this short cut is known as Gang Plank.
    4. Gang Plank is a temporary arrangement between two different points to facilitate quick & easy communication as explained below:

In the figure given, if D has to communicate with G he will first send the communication upwards with the help of C, B to A and then downwards with the help of E and F to G which will take quite some time and by that time, it may not be worth therefore a gang plank has been developed between the two.
    5. Gang Plank clarifies that management principles are not rigid rather they are very flexible. They can be moulded and modified as per the requirements of situations

    4. To inculcate Espirit De’ Corps following steps should be undertaken -
      • There should be proper co-ordination of work at all levels
      • Subordinates should be encouraged to develop informal relations among themselves.
      • Efforts should be made to create enthusiasm and keenness among subordinates so that they can work to the maximum ability.
      • Efficient employees should be rewarded and those who are not up to the mark should be given a chance to improve their performance.
      • Subordinates should be made conscious of that whatever they are doing is of great importance to the business & society.
    5. He also cautioned against the more use of Britain communication to the subordinates i.e. face to face communication should be developed. The managers should infuse team spirit & belongingness. There should be no place for misunderstanding. People then enjoy working in the organization & offer their best towards the organization.
  10. Centralization & De-Centralization

    1. Centralization means concentration of authority at the top level. In other words, centralization is a situation in which top management retains most of the decision making authority.
    2. Decentralization means disposal of decision making authority to all the levels of the organization. In other words, sharing authority downwards is decentralization.
    3. According to Fayol, “Degree of centralization or decentralization depends on no. of factors like size of business, experience of superiors, dependability & ability of subordinates etc.
    4. Anything which increases the role of subordinate is decentralization & anything which decreases it is centralization.
    5. Fayol suggested that absolute centralization or decentralization is not feasible. An organization should strike to achieve a lot between the two.
