lovebirds mating

Ode to lovebird

you want to talk
though you know its time
for my walk

you scream loud
to alarm everyone
cat's in house

I love your hymn
can understand just rhyme

you sing for me

pact with your mate
like Hindus Marriage Act
no divorce

from dining table
choose fruits and vegetables
are you veggie ?

with your red beak
the green chilli you break
tongue's yet cool

toys you get
put in your mouth
childish behave

lovebird! tuck the straw
for construction of nest
mating season nears

loving bird !
do you to me?
I love you

Koel sings

Koo oo, Koo oo, the koel sings.
Sweetness of sugar, to the ears, brings.

Keeps her hidden within the leaves.
'I'm here' coos from branch of tree.
Proclaims, here, arrived the spring.
Koo oo, Koo oo, the koel sings.

Darker than coal, her colour is black.
Her superb cuteness, her voice makes.
Her song for the hearts, tool of alluring.
Koo oo, Koo oo, the koel sings.

With crimson eyes, she looks insane.
Always eager, to look the August rain.
Chants to the tune of droplets falling.
Koo oo, Koo oo, the koel sings.

cuckoo sings
in first rays of sun
darkness goes

my eyes open
in first rays of sun
songs of the birds

lay her eggs
but doesn't know
where to hatch
